Toldur was a Masterminer at Camp Natalon late in the Second Interval. His wife was Alarra.
Biography[]
When new apprentices came to Camp Natalon, Toldur and Alarra agreed to foster Menar and Gulegar. Toldur was later promoted to lead the new evening shift.
When a cave-in caused by Tarik's poor mining techniques trapped Natalon, Dalor and his entire shift, Toldur, Kindan, and Nuella defied Tarik's order that no one go into the mine. After Nuella suggested that they use the passageway from Natalon Hold to the mine shaft to see if they could bypass the worst of the cave-in, Toldur told Renna that he and Natalon had built the passageway - because Natalon wanted to be sure that the rock was strong enough for a hold. They then used all the rocks that had been excavated to build Natalon's hold, the Harper's hold, and the bridge over the river.
After the miners were rescued, Toldur and Tarik's son Cristov carried the injured miners to safety. Then, when Tarik was Shunned, Toldur took care of Cristov, who was just twelve Turns at the time of the cave-in.
At a gather at Crom Hold, D'gan was advised by Lord Holder Fenner that Masterminer Britell had invited Toldur and Cristov. When D'gan asked Britell why they had been invited, Britell told him that they were there because they were being promoted in rank - Toldur to Master and Cristov to journeyman.
Shortly thereafter, a drum message came through, which Kindan translated as saying that firestone mine number nine had exploded. Britell told Toldur and Cristov that, since firestone mine number nine was the last known firestone mine, he would like to open a firestone mine at High Reaches.
After some discussion, it was decided, against D'gan's objections, that both Cristov and Toldur would work at the mine, because Journeyman Cristov would need a Master's instruction. After Toldur and Cristov had successfully found a site for the mine and set everything up, Toldur was killed when Tenim caused the mine to explode, as he had also done at D'gan's firestone mine at Telgar.
