Terry was a Craftmaster smith at Smithcrafthall and Telgar Hold during the Ninth Pass.
Biography
Terry was Fandarel's Craft-second and his major innovator.
When F'nor arrived at the Smithcrafthall on a chore for his mother Manora, he discovered that Master Terry was being menaced by two dragonriders - B'naj and T'reb of Fort Weyr. After being warned off by the dragonriders, F'nor discovered that they had been trying to force Terry to hand over a knife that had been crafted for Lord Holder Larad of Telgar Hold as a gift to Lord Holder Asgenar of Lemos Hold for his wedding in six days. During the altercation that followed, T'reb sliced Terry's thumb with the knife in question. After F'nor forced T'reb to drop the knife, T'rreb drew his belt knife then sliced it into F'nor's shoulder. Following the investigation, F'lar was rankled that T'ron, Fort’s Weyrleader, had tried to shift the blame of the fight from his very guilty rider to Terry.
Later, when F'lar and Lessa visited the Smithcrafthall to discuss Fandarel's proposed long-distance viewer, they reassured Terry that he had done the right thing and that he was not to blame for what happened.
While sitting down for a meal with Fandarel, Terry surprised F'lar and Lessa by speaking into a loudspeaker to order the meal. Much of the meal was spent discussing the loudspeaker and other methods of long-distance communication, as well as the long-distance viewer.
Personality and traits
Fandarel relied heavily on Terry’s executive ability and tactfulness and the fact that he could always be counted on to fill in the gaps in Fandarel’s terse explanations or instructions. But, Terry had a mind of his own, whether it concurred with his Craftmaster's or not.
