I had to laugh when I got up this morning and saw that you had added/finished the tables I started. That's one good thing about being in different timezones. It's like the story of the Shoemaker and the elves...

Heh, glad to help where I can! BTW, I saw you've added some of the craft symbols; a while back I traced and drew up all of the craft, hold and weyr shields (as listed in the second edition of the Dragonlovers' Guide, which was updated to Dolphins of Pern) but I didn't upload them cause I wasn't sure what copyrights applied. Shall we use these[1]? AMCAlmaron 21:32, June 16, 2012 (UTC)

Do you have them in a larger size? If you do, please upload them when you get a chance! I also found some on DeviantArt at [2] and the artist says that they are free to use. Robin Wood gave us permission to use her images as long as we attribute properly, so I kind of hope that other artists will be as agreeable. This is a fan site so there shouldn't be any argument about commercial use. If there is ever any complaint, we will take them down. - Stephenaug 23:29, June 16, 2012 (UTC)

Cool (should probably start uploading some of the other stuff linked to from my page; I was waiting as I wasn't sure what the rules were). I don't have the shields in a larger size, but I've decided to upload them so we can use them for now - for instance, we could always scan them again at a larger size. I've seen those pictures on DeviantArt before, and I think I even commented on one of them as they'd made several mistakes; plus in stylising the images they've changed the official look; note the position of the bull head - which sounds picky, but the same official designs are used in these images ( [3]; from the board game by Robin Wood, showing all the Weyrleaders, Lord Holders and Craftmasters by Dragonquest; we should also contact the person running this website to ask if we can use the pictures he's scanned), so we shouldn't deviate too much from them. Oh, I just remembered; there might be even more canonical shields out there! One of the users ([4]) of the Pern message board I've occasionally linked to here drew a vast map of Pern, which was bordered by a large number of shields ([5]). She showed this to Anne McCaffrey, and I got the impression from various mentions on the message board that her shield designs had been accepted as canon.
A while back she said she was going to upload images of them for people on the message board to see, but I think she must have forgotten about it. I was planning to adapt them to match the shields I've just uploaded here (although the shield detail is hard to make out, you can recognise several key shields, and since it appears to be in alphabetical order, you can guess which holds are represented; for example, the shield before Fort Hold would be Fork Hold, and the one after it would be Fort Sea Hold, and their designs reflect their location and name - but I was waiting for her to put her images up first - so I could make sure I had the designs right, and to ask if she was alright with me doing that. Methinks we should send an email her way (or a message via the link above)...AMCAlmaron 03:04, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
