Fort Weyr

S'nan was Weyrleader of Fort Weyr late in the First Interval and early in the Second Pass. His dragon was bronze Magrith. His weyrmate was Sarai.

Biography[]

S'nan was born c. 210. He was a direct descendant of the first Weyrleader Sean Connell. He had a clipboard that was said to have been passed down from Sean.

While Lord Holder of Fort Hold Paulin was investigating the installation at Landing, S'nan told him that nine expeditions had been mounted to try to retrieve information from "the Aivas". But, since the blanket of volcanic ash covered the entire plateau, they had not been able to locate any landmark by which they could judge the position of the administration building.

While the Lord Holders and Weyrleaders were discussing the possibility of impeaching Lord Holder of Bitra Hold Chalkin, S'nan said that he was against all precedent to employ dragonriders to effect Chalkin's removal - because Impeachment was also against all precedent. He then insisted that, if Chalkin was to be replaced, he must be replaced with a member of the Bloodline. After S'nan disagreed with many of the plans for impeaching Chalkin, he was told that he would be excused from the force and would not be expected to participate further.

Since S'nan had been stunned by both the swiftness of the impeachment and the fact that Chalkin's uncle Vergerin had been located and put in charge so quickly, he insisted on being allowed to convey two Lord Holders when an inspection of the Hold was being planned. After being given a tour, he was very impressed by the improvements that Vergerin had been able to accomplish in such a short period of time.

When it was decided that the First Fall of the Second Pass was imminent, G'don suggested to S'nan that he set up a meeting with the other five Weyrleaders to discuss the rotation of wings.

Appearance and personality[]

S'nan had silvery hair that was more sandy than red. He had always been fussy and especially keen on preventing vegetation around the Holds that look to Fort Weyr.

He was very regimented and, along with his Weyrmate Sarai, insisted on holding the very highest of standards. He was also known to be inflexible, literal and didactic.
