First appearance The Skies of Pern

S'lan, formerly Sellessan, is the rider of brown Norenth at Benden Weyr. He is the son of F'lessan and the grandson of F'lar and Lessa.

Sellessan was the oldest of the three sons of F'lessan and the only one to reside on Benden Weyr. Through his grandmother, Lessa, he is descended from the Lord Holders of Ruatha Hold. After Jaxom, Ruatha's current Lord Holder, overheard two men discussing a possible assassination attempt on his life, it was noted that Sellessan would be a possible replacement, though he was not mentioned by name.

At some unknown point, he impressed brown Norenth, and by the time of The Skies of Pern, is just out of the weyrling barracks. After a strange light was spotted in the sky, later revealed to be a meteor that would crash into the Eastern Ring Sea, S'lan sneaked out to see what the commotion was. S'lan would later fetch his father's riding gear when asked. When the all the weyrs of Pern were working to evacuate the coastlines ahead of the Tsunami caused by the meteor, S'lan would travel to the Southern Continent where he would help tend to the exhausted riders.

Personality and Traits

S'lan is describes as being as curious as F'lessan when he was a boy. He looks up to his father and can look like his grandmother when he scowls.
