Packtail was a type of fish that was native to Pern.
Characteristics[]
Packtail were ugly and had sharp spines. They had an oily slime that could irritate the skin.
Grilled packtail was tasty. Smoked packtail could be used for baking or boiling.
History[]
In the Ninth Pass, Menolly of Half-Circle Sea Hold sliced her hand badly while skinning a packtail. The wound became infected with packtail slime. Later, Menolly caught a packtail and used its oil to coat her nine fire lizards.
