Otto Hegelman was one of the original eighteen dragonriders of Pern. His dragon was brown Shoth. He was part of Sean Connell's wing.
Appearance and personality[]
Prior to impressing Shoth, Otto sometimes spoke with a stutter. After bonding with Shoth, his stutter disappeared. When the dragonriders began their practice of going between, he often preached caution. It was his idea for every rider to keep a log of reference points.
