Mount Garben, known as the Two-Faced Mountain in the Ninth Pass, was a volcano located along the Jordan River. Landing was built on a plateau on its east side.

Mount Garben was named for a senator who had helped the Pern colony come into being. It had three smaller peaks running along its south side; these were almost named after the three members of the Exploration and Evaluation Corps who had surveyed the planet, Shavva, Liu and Turnien, but this was never made official. The second of the three peaks was later dubbed «Picchu Peak».
