Merika was an Oldtimer Weyrwoman at High Reaches Weyr during both the Eighth Pass and the Ninth Pass. Her Weyrmate was T'kul.
Biography
After T'ron's plan to killF'lar at the Telgar Gather failed, F'lar challenged Oldtimers to either speak against Benden or to follow him and fight Thread. Many agreed to follow Benden's lead, effectively making F'lar the Weyrleader of all Pern. F'lar exiled all non-followers to the Southern Continent, where they could do little harm. All but fourteen of the folk at High Reaches Weyr went with T’kul and Merika.
Personality and traits
F'lar thought that Merika was as much a sour sort as her Weyrleader T'kul.
Brekke thought that Merika had obviously been a worse Weyrwoman than Kylara, for High Reaches was in a bad state of disrepair.
