Martin was a dragonrider during the First Pass. Martin's dragon was blue Dagmath. They were stationed at Fort Weyr and then assigned to Benden Weyr when Sean Connell established several new weyrs.

Apparently, Martin was one of the first dragonriders with a non-heterosexual orientation.
