Allium sativum, commonly known on Pern as Spearleek or Whitebulb, is a species in the onion genus, Allium. [1][2] It was brought from Terra by the colonists and successfully transplanted to Pern.
Description[]
Allium sativum is a bulbous plant. It grows up to 1.2 m (4 ft) in height. It produces hermaphrodite flowers. Pollination occurs by bees and other insects.
Uses[]
Garlic is known medicinally for its antibacterial properties, and culinarily for its strong and distinctive taste; Moreta used it as a palliative, and Fiona used it in cooking.[3]
