First Fall refers to the first instance of Threadfall following the colonization of Pern. The Fall was totally unexpected and caught the colony completely unawares, allowing it to wreak incredible destruction.
The fall occurred over Landing and the surrounding area. Several hunting parties were caught in the fall, with only a few surviving. In Landing itself, many people were saved by the actions of the fire lizards. The colonists learned from this fall that Thread would devour anything organic.
