Eridani was a member planet of the Federated Sentient Planets and the native homeworld of the Eridani species.
History[]
As humanity explored space, they encountered sentient species like the Eridani and the Nathi. The Eridani were known to be scientific and frequently collaborated with humans on experiments.
The Eridani came up with mentasynth, a compound that enhanced the mental abilities of any creature genetically engineered with it. The resulting abilities from mentasynth could be genetically transmitted from one generation to the next. Humans Kitti Ping Yung and Wind Blossom studied mentasynth on Eridani before becoming Pern colonists.
