Cricket was Sean Connell's horse, specifically bred for him as payment for his services in hunting for fire lizards.
Born the first year after Landing, out of the fertilized ova of a chestnut mare that had been brought from Earth, Cricket was dappled gray. Cricket was named after a pony that Sean had on Earth.
When riding Cricket, Sean used a hackamore to control him. After Thread had killed Porrig Connell's breeding stud, he used Cricket for stud service.
After Carenath came into Sean's life, he gave Cricket to Brian Hanrahan, who used him to breed other horses at Fort Hold.
