Arwith was a gold dragon clutched at Benden Weyr during the Ninth Pass. Her rider was junior weyrwoman Talina, and she later became senior gold at Monaco Bay Weyr.
Biography[]
Since Brekke had been convinced to try for reimpression at the clutch in which Arwith hatched, all female candidates allowed Brekke to go first. After Brekke's bronze fire-lizard Berd protested and Talina placed herself between Arwith and Berd, Arwith butted Talina's legs. When Talina knelt down to Arwith, they impressed.
After the Fireball Flood, it was decided that dragonriders would have to time it to move people to safety. Talina and Arwith were in one of the wings that were sent to Monaco Bay, where she was permanently assigned. Arwith was the first gold to rise to mate and became the senior gold, making Talina the Weyrwoman of Monaco Bay Weyr. Arwith's clutches at Monaco Bay Weyr were sired by Monarth, Weyrleader T'gellan's bronze Monarth, but Talina and T'gellan were not weyrmates.
When Zaranth and Golanth were being attacked by felines at the Honshu Hold that F'lessan had claimed, Arwith was one of the dragons who responded to the call for help.
While Golanth was recovering, it was decided that it might be a good idea for him to be able to swim at Cove Hold. However, since Golanth wasn't yet able to fly, Arwith and several other dragons took lessons in telekinesis so that they could help carry Golanth to Cove Hold. It was later decided that all dragons would practice telekinesis, giving consideration to the possibility of deflecting any meteorites or other spatial objects that became a danger to Pern in the future.

Even though Arwith hatched from one of Ramoth's earlier clutches - the same one at which Jaxom impressed Ruth - Arwith was not named until The Skies of Pern.
